2021, Clinical BiochemistryMetabolite profiles of Pulicaria crispa and P. incisa in relation to their in-vitro/ in-vivo antioxidant activity and hepatoprotective effect: A comparative mass spectrometry-based metabolomics
2021, Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical AnalysisCitation Excerpt :Both Pulicaria extracts were comparable to each other in terms of their antioxidant potential with only a slight better activity observed for P. incisa in accordance with in vitro antioxidant results. This activity is probably attributed to the presence of a myriad of antioxidants to scavenge reactive oxygen species generated after CPZ administration [33]. UPLC/MS analysis confirmed the enrichment of both Pulicaria in antioxidants compounds such as flavonoids especially methoxylated derivatives with enhanced metabolic stability and pharmacokinetic profile [18].
Cholestatic Liver Diseases: A Primer for Generalists and Subspecialists
2020, Mayo Clinic ProceedingsCitation Excerpt :Elevation of serum bilirubin typically occurs with progression of disease and constitutes a poor prognostic sign73 Lipid abnormalities are common in PBC. Mild elevations in low-density lipoprotein (LDL) with more marked elevations in high-density lipoprotein (HDL) are common in early PBC, whereas more prominent elevations in LDL and lower HDL levels are noted in later stages of the disease.74 Despite this, hyperlipidemia does not appear to confer excess cardiovascular risk.75
