Dr. Leicester: Unlike most diagnostic modalities, endoscopies grew up between a number of specialties, being performed by gastroenterologists, surgeons, and radiologists and as a result, clear training requirements and provision differed.     The goal of a “train the trainer“ effort is to provide trainees with greater access to simulator-augmented training, with simulator-based workshops integrated into standard endoscopy education. An additional benefit of focusing efforts to develop the educational skills of endoscopy instructors is that these “train the trainer” sessions serve to promote uniformity in endoscopy education [11,43]. The author's group conducted a pilot study that examined the feasibility of short “train the trainer” sessions to achieve these goals.
